ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW
Assignment Title: Policy Framework for Participation in Carbon Markets
Assignment Countries:
ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION
The Paris Agreement allows for increased flexibility for countries to determine their mitigation targets in the form of Nationally Determined Contributions(NDCs), recognizing countries’ differing needs and circumstances. Botswana’s updated NDC reaffirms its ambitious commitment to reduce 15% of its GHG emissions by 2030 relative to business as usual (BAU) with a focus on energy, transport, industry and agriculture, forests, and other land use (AFOLU) sectors. The World Bank seeks to engage an experienced consultancy firm to support the Government of Botswana in preparing for and participating in international carbon markets. The objective of this assignment is to support the development of a policy framework for Botswana’s participation in carbon markets.
