The textile industry in Jordan is a vital sector,
contributing significantly to the country's economy. However, despite its
economic importance, the industry faces challenges in attracting new talent due
to outdated perceptions about working conditions, limited awareness of career
opportunities, and a lack of emphasis on its innovative and sustainable
practices.
From another side, the industry managers, despite the
higher wages and benefits, rely on expatriate workers as the local workforce is
not interested in employment in the garment industry and expatriate workers
have higher production efficiency.
Such claims and perceptions need to be verified,
quantified and better understood with the purpose of finding ways to attract
more Jordanian labor to the textile and apparel industry and increase the local
value addition.
The objective of this task is to analyze the
employment landscape in Jordan’s textile and apparel industry, identify ways to
attract Jordanian blue- and white-collar labor to the industry and develop the
promotion strategy (set of actions) including comprehensive promotional
materials to be used by the project and Jordan`s textiles and clothing sector to improve the
public image of the industry and attract more individuals to work in this
sector.
