ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION
Wildfireevents, driven by climate change and human activities, pose significant risksto populations, infrastructure, and natural assets across diverse landscapes.To effectively inform policy decisions, financial planning, and disaster riskmanagement strategies, accurate and regionally-consistent probabilistic riskanalysis is crucial.
Recentadvancements in wildfire modeling have enabled more sophisticated and granularanalyses, integrating climate projections, ignition sources, and fire spreadmechanisms. This Consultancy will leverage these advancements to deliver acomprehensive probabilistic wildfire risk analysis across selected regions. Theoutcomes of this analysis will directly support the "Scaling up PrivateInvestment in Reforestation for Global Public Goods, Jobs and Growth in LatinAmerica" project[1] andcontribute to the World Bank’s broader efforts to enhance disaster preparednessand resilience.
ThisConsultancy is part of the World Bank’s Technical Assistance project focused onenhancing financial resilience through improved risk analytics and disasterpreparedness. It aligns with the objectives of the Global Partnership forSustainable and Resilient Landscapes (PROGREEN), a multi-donor umbrella programhoused at the World Bank. PROGREEN addresses pressing global challenges such asbiodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, and ecosystem restorationby supporting national and regional sustainable landscape programs andgenerating knowledge to inform the design and implementation of thesemultisectoral initiatives. Through PROGREEN, countries are better equipped tomeet their national and global sustainable development goals, including povertyreduction, in a cost-effective manner.
The primaryfocus of this Consultancy is to provide model outputs that will serve as inputsinto the technical analysis to be conducted by the World Bank.
Thisproject is aimed at identifying and informing public sector initiatives inLatin America to scale-up private capital mobilization for reforestation and optimize the associated delivery ofglobal public goods (GPGs). This consultancy will examine public policies thatmaximize delivery of GPGs as an outcome of commercial forest investment,including, but not limited to: (i) carbon sequestration/removal; (ii)biodiversity conservation/enhancement; (iii) water and soil resources protection;(iv) reduction of natural disasters such as floods and landslides and (v) airquality improvement.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The World Bank Group invites eligible firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc. for firms; CV and cover letter for individuals). Please note that the total size of all attachments should be less than 5MB. Firms may associate to enhance their qualifications unless otherwise stated in the solicitation documents. Where a group of firms associate to submit an EOI, they must indicate which is the lead firm. If shortlisted, the firm identified in the EOI as the lead firm will be invited to the request for proposal (RFP) phase.

NOTES
Following this invitation for EOI, a shortlist of qualified firms will be formally invited to submit proposals. Shortlisting and selection will be subject to the availability of funding.
Only those firms which have been shortlisted will be invited to participate in the RFP phase. No notification or debrief will be provided to firms which have not been shortlisted.
