IFC, member of the World Bank Group, is currently seeking
the services of a firm or a consortium of firms to support the development of
its 2025-2030 Africa Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) strategy in alignment with the
WBG target to significantly scale-up energy access towards reaching 250 million
people by 2030.
For the purpose of the strategy, DRE will include the
following business models and technologies: Solar Home Systems, Mini-Grids,
Clean Cooking solutions, e-Vehicles and associated infrastructure, Commercial
and Industrial renewables (C&I) as well as distributed grid-tied renewable
or storage assets.
The strategy is expected to cover areas including but not
limited to: DRE technologies / business models and their associated market
potential per country/geographies, regulatory landscapes, key players, WBG
synergies as well as financing instruments and solutions.
Finally, and leveraging data collection and analysis
undertaken towards developing IFC’s DRE strategy, the selected firm will be
expected to develop short and crisp “market insight” documents for each DRE
sub-sector to be disseminated externally, possibly under a co-branding
arrangement. This will provide much needed information on these promising yet
nascent markets as a public good while also helping position IFC as a market
leader in the space.
